Beijing arts and crafts "sprouted in the State of Yan and Zhao during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods (770-221 BC), were established during the Liao and Jin dynasties (916-1234), developed in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), and flourished in contemporary times". After a millennium of accumulation, they have formed a distinctive style represented by Beijing's Eight Imperial Handicrafts, or yanjing bajue: gold lacquer inlay, filigree inlaid metal art, cloisonne, jade carving, ivory carving, carved lacquerware, Beijing embroidery, and palace carpets. These exquisite techniques and unique styles stand out in China and are renowned worldwide.

Having been held for 20 editions, the "Arts and Crafts Cup" Beijing Arts and Crafts Competition is not only an annual industry event but also an important initiative by the government to promote the inheritance, innovation, and development of the arts and crafts industry, select outstanding talents, and drive transformation and upgrading.

This exhibition, themed "essence, inheritance, and innovation," systematically showcases the outstanding works from past "Arts and Crafts Cup" competitions, demonstrating the positive achievements of Beijing arts and crafts in contemporary protection and development, and highlighting the practical value of the capital's arts and crafts in serving the people's needs for a better life.
