The Spring Festival is the grandest, most joyous, and harmonious traditional festival for the Chinese people, holding significant importance in the timeline of Chinese life. It serves as a shared spiritual home for the Chinese and a vivid representation and distinctive symbol of the ongoing development of Chinese civilization.

The customs of the Spring Festival are deeply rooted in the simple lives of the people and are born from the cultural creativity of the masses. These customs encompass traditional rituals, agricultural ceremonies, and various folk beliefs that offer spiritual solace and express wishes. They embody the hopes for reunion and harmony, the virtues of respecting the elderly and caring for the young, the principles of friendly neighborly interactions, and the wisdom of living in accordance with time and order. These elements fully and passionately reflect the ancient cultural genes and emotional foundations of the people, forming the enduring vitality and cohesive force of this ancient festival.

In December 2024, the Spring Festival, a social practice of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year, was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This year, the CTCM has hosted the "Guo Nian: Bingwu Spring Festival Themed Exhibition" with new ideas, divided into four thematic sections.

The section "Evolution of Time" showcases the evolution of traditional calendar knowledge and New Year celebration customs; "Galloping Steeds" highlights the elegance and symbolic significance of horses in traditional culture through horse-related intangible cultural heritage projects; "Food as Heaven" focuses on the comprehensive view of food, demonstrating the close relationship between intangible cultural heritage protection, Spring Festival customs, and food security through aspects like planting, storage, processing, and sharing; "Lights of Spring" presents the festive atmosphere of family joy with richly shaped and exquisitely crafted lanterns.

May everyone seize the vibrant energy of the season, embodying the elegance and spirit of a gallant horse, and, with dreams as their steed, make the most of their prime!
