Due to its historical significance as part of the "Plateau Silk Road", Qinghai has become a geographical symbol of the openness, inclusivity, and multicultural coexistence of Chinese civilization. Qutan Temple is a shining jewel on this symbolic coordinate.

The temple served as an important political link for the central government during the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and its historical significance extends far beyond the religious domain.

The temple's architecture, sculptures, murals, and precious artifacts vividly demonstrate the Sinicization of Tibetan Buddhism on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the harmonious relations between Han and Tibetan cultures. These elements collectively reflect the historical unity, mutual support, and harmonious coexistence among China's diverse ethnic groups over the long course of history.

The "Exhibition of Qinghai Silk Road Artifacts and Qutan Temple Murals" uses murals, artifacts, documents, and multimedia presentations as its framework, weaving a "cultural canal" that transcends time and space.

Here, visitors can see how Han and Tibetan arts have influenced each other in small details, how historical central dynasties integrated Qinghai into the broader national narrative through adaptive governance, the development and transmission of intangible cultural heritage projects, and the systematic protection of cultural heritage. Furthermore, it showcases how modern Qinghai transforms historical legacies into a vibrant source of unity for the Chinese nation.
